JABA is halfway there.
The Jefferson Area Board for Aging is 41, so we are halfway to the average lifespan of an individual. The census statistics suggest that our area is growing faster than the national average in the 65 and older/better category. By 2020, our region will have 20 percent of the population at that milestone and beyond.
An important part of creating an age-friendly community is for all ages to feel that the community meets their needs.
JABA’s mission is to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages. We accomplish this by providing a continuum of services for your continuum of aging. We want people to be able to age in the community of their choice. This means providing services and supports that allow each of us to stay active in the community and live with as much independence as possible.
What do all of these words actually mean for you? JABA is the “No Wrong Door.” We are the gateway for identifying services that you could tap to help you age in your community.
