Governor McAuliffe Praises JABA Pen Pal Program

June 6, 2017 -- During his comments at the 2017 Virginia Governor's Conference on Aging last month, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe highlighted and applauded the Pen Pal Program between members of JABA’s Mary Williams Community Senior Center and second-grade students at Burnley-Moran Elementary School.

“One of the great programs we have is at the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, JABA…what you call an intergeneration pen pal program….and I read a heartwarming story about a a local second grade student named Terrell who was paired up with a 92-year old WWII veteran named Dave….the teacher, in Terrell’s school, said that his entire life has changed because of working with Dave…” [starts at the 1:42 mark]
