Legislators to Attend Jan. 5 Forum on Aging Issues

Area legislators will be on hand to meet with constituents

and discuss issues regarding aging at a legislative forum on Friday,

January 5, 2007, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Westminster

Presbyterian Church, 190 Rugby Road, Charlottesville.

For directions and parking information, go to

http://www.westminsterva.org/maps.asp.

As of December 22, Sen.

Creigh R. Deeds (25th District), and Del.

David Toscano (57th District) had confirmed that they will attend. Other

legislators have been invited.

The forum is being

jointly sponsored by the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, the Central and

Western Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Community

Partnership for Improved Long Term Care, and is open to the public.

“We always think this is an important topic,” says Gordon

Walker, JABA CEO. “It’s a really good opportunity for concerned citizens to

make their voices heard, and to hear what their legislators are thinking about

these issues.”

Larry Zippin, Central and Western Virginia Alzheimer’s CEO,

agrees “How the state will handle issues of long term care is of special

interest to people with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. This is a unique opportunity for people to speak

directly about their concerns with legislators.”
