At JABA, our mission is to ensure that individuals and families live better. We believe that living as part of a community promotes healthy aging, so all JABA owned and run living options promote a sense of community. Whether you are seeking independent living or living with assistance, JABA continues to establish and preserve affordable living communities that increase options for living better.
Living as an elder should be an enjoyable part of your life. Why not enjoy yourself as part of a community that learns, plays and works together? At JABA, we have designed our Community Centers and our Adult Care Centers to promote fun and fellowship.
JABA is all about lending support to seniors in need of assistance. Whether that includes basic information, case management, insurance counseling, home delivered meals — or any of the many other available services — we want you to think of JABA as a source of support for you or your loved ones. Most of our support is offered as a gift to those who cannot pay. See individual programs for more details.
JABA is able to do all that it does because of generous volunteers and donors. We value contributions of time as well as dollars and promise to put your talents and your donations to very good use.
In the past five years, government funding has diminished. Luckily, individual and corporate contributions have begun to rise. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and needed.
What’s good for us as we age is good for our entire community — from planning for neighborhood growth, to promoting local foods and collaborating for the best use of resources. This is the philosophy behind JABA’s mission, “to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages.”
JABA extends a helping hand to older adults in our area and their families, providing food, health services, cooling and heating assistance, insurance counseling, transportation, companionship and much more. Our goal is to help elders remain as independent as possible, living in their homes as long as possible.
Challenging economic times and a growing population of vulnerable older adults make your generosity more important than ever. Please send a tax-deductible donation to JABA, Inc. You may designate the gift to a particular program or let us use it where it is most needed.

- Annual Campaign »
Your undesignated donation to JABA, Inc. helps raise money for our annual campaign. Every fiscal year, we raise funds to support JABA's many programs and services, including Mountainside Senior Living, our affordable assisted-living community in Crozet. Although JABA offers services to all seniors, priority is given to services that assist older individuals with the greatest economic, health and social needs.
- Planned Giving »
A donor typically makes a planned gift as part of a financial planning objective to maximize the potential benefit of the gift to the donor, as well as JABA, and to minimize the net cost of the gift. Please consult your legal and tax advisors before making any planned giving decisions.
There are many ways to give to JABA, including bequests, endowments, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, gifts of insurance policies, and multi-year donations. Please contact Lida Hurst, JABA's Chief Development Officer, by phone at 434.817.5221 or via email at email@example.com to discuss these options in more detail.
- Capital Campaigns »
Capital campaigns are organized to raise significant money for a specific project, often to construct a new building or purchase expensive equipment. JABA is raising capital for two such bricks-and-mortar projects.
One immediate need is for the purchase of kitchen equipment and furnishings for our Vinegar Hill Cafe at The Jefferson School City Center. The Cafe's kitchen will be used in conjunction with PVCC to offer culinary arts training to youth in need of job skills. The Cafe will also provide lunchtime meals to older adults who attend JABA's new Senior Community Center.
A second capital need is for the Southern Albemarle Intergenerational Center, a new building that will serve people living in the Schuyler area of Nelson, Western Fluvanna and Northern Buckingham. The Center will enable youngsters and elders to participate, both jointly and separately, in educational, recreational, social and health-related programs.
Please contact Lida Hurst, JABA's Chief Development Officer, by phone at 434.817.5221 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about how you can contribute to our capital campaigns.
