We believe that living as part of a community promotes healthy aging, so all JABA owned and run living options promote a sense of community. Whether you are seeking independent living or living with assistance, JABA continues to establish and preserve living communities that increase options for living better.

Living as an elder should be an enjoyable part of your life. Why not enjoy yourself as part of a community that learns, plays and works together? At JABA, we have designed our Community Centers and our Adult Care Centers to promote fun and fellowship.
Support
JABA is all about lending support to seniors in need of assistance. Whether that includes basic information, case management, insurance counseling, home delivered meals — or any of the many other available services — we want you to think of JABA as a source of support for you or your loved ones. Most of our support is offered as a gift to those who cannot pay. See individual programs for more details.
Give
JABA is able to do all that it does because of generous volunteers and donors. We value contributions of time as well as dollars and promise to put your talents and your donations to very good use.
In the past five years, government funding has diminished. Luckily, individual and corporate contributions have begun to rise. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and needed.

What’s good for us as we age is good for our entire community — from planning for neighborhood growth, to promoting local foods and collaborating for the best use of resources. This is the philosophy behind JABA’s mission, “to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages.”
Donations
JABA strives to help elders remain as independent as possible, living in their homes as long as it is possible.
Each year JABA extends a helping hand to as many as 15,000 older adults and their families, providing food, health care, cooling and heating assistance, insurance counseling, transportation and companionship. JABA volunteers visit the homebound, deliver meals and offer friendship. JABA nurses make home visits and provide checkups at our housing facilities and community centers. Every encounter becomes a time of healing and renewed strength.
Please help us continue this work — which grows more and more important each day — by sending a tax-deductible contribution to JABA, Inc. At the time of your donation, you may designate the gift to a particular program or leave it to us to use it where it is most needed.

Each fiscal year, JABA solicits funds to enable clients to receive our many services. Although JABA offers services to all seniors, many in our community still remain underserved. Priority for the distribution of fund raising dollars is given to services that assist older individuals with the greatest economic, health and social needs. JABA’s Annual Campaign raises funds for JABA services including Mountainside Senior Living.

Endowments ensure that JABA can meet its commitment to making our community the best place to age – and live – for all of our citizens regardless of income. Endowments are critical so we may continue to ensure services as the aging population grows. Endowments also represent the understanding that JABA is worthy of investment by individuals and organizations who care about humankind, society, our community and our less fortunate elders.
A JABA endowment operates much like any savings and investment portfolio. The principal is invested and grows over time, and each year JABA spends a small percentage of the interest to support operations. But in order to keep up with a changing world, the endowment principal must continue to grow through donations. At JABA, strengthening the endowment is the top fiscal priority. The endowment is the basis of JABA’s long-term financial strength. Although JABA has a long and impressive record of careful management and conservative spending, stewarding a 10-million dollar endowment, built by gifts from generations of donors and nurtured through wise investment, provides critical support to the organization’s future.

Southern Albemarle Intergenerational Center Capital (SAIC) campaign will raise funds to build a new facility. This initiative is key to fulfilling the JABA mission on many levels. This building will house JABA’s two existing programs in Scottsville and Esmont. Also serving persons living in the Schuyler area of Nelson, Western Fluvanna and Northern Buckingham, the intergenerational center will enable youngsters and elders to participate, both jointly and separately, in educational, recreational, social and health related programs.
