At JABA, our mission is to ensure that individuals and families live better. We believe that living as part of a community promotes healthy aging, so all JABA owned and run living options promote a sense of community. Whether you are seeking independent living or living with assistance, JABA continues to establish and preserve affordable living communities that increase options for living better.
Living as an elder should be an enjoyable part of your life. Why not enjoy yourself as part of a community that learns, plays and works together? At JABA, we have designed our Community Centers and our Adult Care Centers to promote fun and fellowship.
JABA is all about lending support to seniors in need of assistance. Whether that includes basic information, case management, insurance counseling, home delivered meals — or any of the many other available services — we want you to think of JABA as a source of support for you or your loved ones. Most of our support is offered as a gift to those who cannot pay. See individual programs for more details.

In the past five years, government funding has diminished. Luckily, individual and corporate contributions have begun to rise. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and needed.

- Information on Independent Living Communities »
Retirement Communities offer a range of housing options, from single family homes to high-rise apartments. Retirement communities provide either a purchase or lease option, and range from condominium-style ownership to monthly rental apartments. These communities usually offer some services and amenities, such as recreation facilities, meal preparation or congregate meals, housekeeping services, and laundry services. The cost of these services may or may not be included in the monthly fee. It is best to find out what services are available, and at what cost, before entering a retirement community.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) are financially self-sufficient residential communities for seniors that offer medical and nursing services in addition to independent living. CCRCs differ in the amount of health care they offer their residents, and some do not offer a health care guarantee through the end of life. Generally, they provide food, housing, medical services and nursing care, and assisted living for the remainder of the resident's life, frequently even after the person has exhausted all financial resources. It can be thought of as a form of self-insurance, spreading the risk of catastrophic health care costs among all residents in the CCRC so that no one will face financial ruin. Because of the guaranteed health care, this type of facility is usually the most expensive.
CCRCs generally charges two fees: a one-time entry fee followed by a monthly maintenance fee. An alternative used by some CCRCs is to offer a reduced entry fee, which is accompanied by proportionally higher monthly fees. Careful planning, coupled with wise shopping can make this form of housing and health care a successful alternative.
Modified Retirement Communities offer the same services as the Continuing Care Retirement Communities, but without the health care guarantee. For example, a modified facility may provide 15 days of nursing care per year. After you exhaust your 15 days, you must pay a daily charge for the nursing. In the event you run out of money, the facility is not contractually obligated to provide for your care.
