Managing Chronic Pain & Disease
Are you an older adult living with high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic pain or other health condition? Would you like to take more control over your health and quality of life?
Live Well, Virginia! is a free JABA program designed to empower adults with chronic health conditions to improve their health and quality of life. During interactive workshops, participants practice skills and coping strategies to meet their specific needs. After completing the program, participants report that they have more energy, feel less pain, are more involved in everyday activities and feel more satisfied with their lives.
What to Expect at the Workshops
Six-week workshops are led by a pair of trained volunteer leaders (at least one leader has a chronic health condition). Workshop sessions cover common challenges, such as pain management, exercise, nutrition, medication use and communicating with doctors. Interactive group learning focuses on coping strategies such as problem-solving, action planning and decision-making. Workshops provide a supportive environment that builds participants’ confidence in being able to manage healthy lives.
