Wills for Seniors
Have you thought about making a will or advance medical directive, but haven’t had the time or financial resources to get it done?
For one day each spring and fall, JABA teams up with volunteer attorneys from the Williams Mullen law firm and UVA law students to offer free life planning counseling and services through our Wills for Seniors Program. Participants receive a simple will, durable power of attorney and advance medical directive that make their wishes clear. Seniors age 60+ and adults with disabilities are eligible to participate (income requirements may also apply). Call 434.817.5253 for more information.
Whether or not you participate in Wills for Seniors, JABA encourages you to think about the type of medical treatment you would prefer under circumstances in which you may not be able to make such decisions yourself. It is important to “have the conversation” with family and friends about what you want, then follow through by filling out valid legal documents that convey your choices. Let JABA connect you to resources about advance directives and how to express your wishes to those you love.
