Transforming Lives Together

For 50 years, donors like you have helped older adults and people with disabilities receive meals, care, and the connection they critically need. Unfortunately, needs are increasing at a rapid rate. But you have the power to protect the dignity of elders through your donation.

Aging at Home Shouldn’t Mean Aging Alone

Sharon loved living with her grandson, who was her primary caregiver. But he was struggling to care for her. Sharon’s health was declining, and she was afraid to leave home to see a doctor. When they reached out for help, Sharon was scared that JABA’s Aging Services Coordinator (ASC) would try to send her to a nursing home. The ASC assured both Sharon and her grandson that JABA was there to help them reach their goals. Because of Sharon’s mobility issues and income limitations, she struggled to get enough nutrition, despite her grandson’s best efforts. The ASC helped Sharon sign up for Home Delivered Meals and supported her grandson with access to community resources like the Department of Social Services, SNAP, and medical equipment providers. Sharon was thrilled to have the support she and her grandson needed, without having to leave her home.

You can change lives. Consider making a donation to support vital services for older adults and caregivers.

Preparing For the Next 50

  • By 2030, one out of four people in Central Virginia will be over 60 years old.

  • Government and private funding are not keeping pace with needs.

  • In Central Virginia, 24% of seniors live alone and 6% are in poverty (under $15,650 annually).

  • 8,657 adults have a cognitive difficulty, and 26,580 have a physical disability.

We need your help to fill the gaps so everyone can age where and how they want without worrying about their next meal or affording medical care.
